The Five Most Frequently Asked Auto Glass Questions

admin : October 13, 2011 4:37 pm : The Royal Auto Blog

At Royal Auto Glass we’re always happy to answer our customers’ questions, especially the ones that nobody wants to ask but everybody wants to know.  If you have a question about repairing or replacing your windshield that isn’t answered below, please give us a call at 520-777-1163 and we’d be happy to help!  Below you’ll find answers to the five questions we get asked nearly every day.

Will my insurance rate go up if I submit a glass claim?

This is probably one of the single most frequently asked questions we get asked from customers at Royal, “Will my insurance rate go up?”, and we’re always happy to let them know the answer.  No,  your insurance rates will not go up because of submitting a glass claim.  If you have comprehensive auto insurance,  your rate can not go up as a result of you submitting a no-fault claim.  Arizona Revised Statue 20-263 (ARS 20-263) states that your insurance premium cannot be increased as the result of an accident that wasn’t your fault which includes no-fault glass damage such as gravel hitting your car, vandalism, or even unknown acts of nature (monsoon season in Arizona always seems to whip up some surprises).

Does my windshield need to be replaced or can it be repaired?

The answer to this varies on a case by case basis,  we would need to see  your vehicle and evaluate the damage to be able to give you a concrete answer.  However we always strive to repair a windshield when possible, and only replace when necessary.  If the damage to your shield is minimal we can often repair the issue with our special clear polymer which fills in the troubled spot and stops further spidering or cracking. (Hint!  Call us sooner rather than later, a repairable shield can quickly become irreparable if the damage spreads).

Does my insurance cover glass claims?

If you have comprehensive insurance on your vehicle, which is often a requirement if you are leasing or have a loan on the car, than your coverage should cover glass.  In Arizona, insurance providers are required to offer an additional no-deductible safety equipment (such as glass) endorsement when you have a comprehensive policy.  A no deductible safety equipment endorsement means that your don’t have to pay your normal deductible for glass repairs or replacements.  If you aren’t sure about your insurance and/or endorsements,  give us a call at 520-777-1163 and one of our professionals can help.

I don’t have a glass endorsement.  Can I add the endorsement and wait for it to take effect before submitting my claim?

Unfortunately no,  not only would this be unethical  but it is also illegal!  Insurance companies may ask you to present proof that your car’s glass is not damaged when adding glass coverage to your policy.  And if they know your windshield is damaged they may also ask you to submit proof of repair prior to extending new glass coverage. If you’re just reading this for fun and don’t currently have a glass endorsement on your comprehensive policy,  we would strongly suggest talking to your insurance agent and adding the endorsement.

Can I choose the company to replace my glass or is that handled by my insurance?

Absolutely, you’re the consumer and the choice is yours!  This is simply another matter of state law.  Arizona Revised Statute 20-469  (ARS 20-469) guarantees your right to choose any glass repair facility you want to repair or replace your vehicle’s glass.  We work with all insurance providers to give you the best experience possible and as an Arizona consumer you have the right to choose.

Three Reasons to Tint Your Car Windows

admin : September 28, 2011 1:23 am : The Royal Auto Blog

While most people tint their vehicles strictly for the looks, there are other reasons, many of which are beneficial to your overall safety. Favorable uses of car tint include: Glare Reduction, Temperature Reduction, and Enhanced Privacy.

Glare Reduction: Though the sun is essential to our well being, there are times when it must be avoided; especially when driving. Most car films were manufactured to help reduce glare, and consequently protect you against unnecessary road accidents (films also reduce headlight glare from other vehicles).
